Poem
Here you are
ugly crying on your nightly walk
in full view of the cars and people speeding
past you
snot smeared hoodie and wailing tears of
sorrow for the man who broke your heart 27
years ago, a pain that never ceased
a knife split your heart, like butchering meat
except your heart is still beating, still
keeping time, all the minutes without him
you lived, or tried
burying your wound, burying your self
burying anything that made you, you
burying the one thing you always trusted
was true
that you loved him, mind heart body and
soul, you'd have had him anytime, anyplace,
anywhere
but here is where you are. a shipwrecked
heart on a forgotten shore.
